How to Track OPay Transaction [Easy Guide in 2024]

Hello guys! In this article, I'm going to be walking through how to track and trace your transactions on the OPay App. Tracking and Tracing Transactions on the OPay App can be done in two different ways; via Transaction History and via Session ID, also known as Transaction ID.

OPay Session ID is a 30-digits unique codes, comprises of numbers and alphabets, that's used by any financial institutions in Nigeria to track and trace hang money or stuck transactions. The Session ID can also be referred to as Transaction ID, Receipt ID and Transfer ID.

In the OPay App, it's referred to as "Transaction Number". In the UBA Mobile Banking App, it's referred to as "Transfer ID".

The OPay Transaction Number is usually 18-digit numbers. These sequence of numbers can be used within the OPay banking system to track and trace transactions. Just like other commercial banks and fintech companies in Nigeria, they have a unique code that can be used within their banking system to track and trace transactions.

However, the Session ID is the general unique code that can be used by any financial institutions to trace and track transaction record of any banks. Whenever you initiated a transaction on your bank account, whether the transaction is successful or not, a session ID must be generated for the transaction.

Due to usability by all banks, the Session IDs are mostly hidden from the reach of regular bank account holders. That's why you don't usually sees it in your transaction receipt anymore. However, to get your Transaction's Session ID, kindly download your bank account statement and each transactions' session ID will be placed in front in rows.

Getting Session ID through account statement is the easiest way. You can also get your transaction's session ID on your online banking that's if you've activated your bank internet-banking portal.

Now, that you've know the basic principle of how Session ID works in a Bank, let's dive into how to track your transaction on the OPay App.

Tracking OPay Transactions

Tracking OPay Transactions can be categorized into two major part; tracking your transactions on the OPay App and tracing OPay Transactions on beneficiary's bank.

If you're tracking or monitoring your transactions on the OPay App, you can simply "Login" to your OPay App and click on "Transaction History" at the top right corner of your dashboard. You will see the list of your transactions and the receipt in the History page. You can then track and manage all your transactions from there.

However, if you send money to other Bank in Nigeria and the money get stuck, you can use Session ID of the transaction to trace and track the Money. Here's how: Login to your OPay Account, navigate to "Transaction History" and search for the transaction receipt in question. You can copy the "Transaction Number" and chat OPay customer service about the transaction.

Better still, you can report the transaction simply by clicking on "Report" at the bottom of the transaction receipt. In essence, when you get back an update from OPay Customer service citing that the money has been sent and the problem is not from their end, that means you need to find the transaction Session ID and send it to the beneficiary bank for further assistance.

To get your Session ID, kindly login to your OPay App and navigate to download your "OPay Account Statement". In the statement, you will get all the transactions' session ID in front row. Now, search for the transaction in question and write down the Session ID.

The Bottom Line

In a nutshell, tracking OPay Transaction on the app is super easy. You can quickly do that simply by navigating to the "Transaction History" and manage all your transactions from there.
